Introduction Program of Korea for Foreign Diplomats

Objective of Education
- To help newly assigned foreign diplomats adjust to Korea and enhance general understanding of the nation
- To expand diplomatic networks through mutual understanding
Course Characteristics
- Lecture and discussion of diplomatic policy, economy, society and culture of Korea
- Building diplomatic networks through interchange with Korean diplomats
Capacity Building for international/foreign Diplomats (sponsored by KOICA)
Overview
- Target: Junior and mid career diplomats in developing countries
- Duration: 2 weeks
- Attendance: Around 25
- Schedule: June of 2020
Objective of Education
- To increase understanding of Korean foreign policy
- To share Korea’s economic development experience
- To increase friendly and cooperative relationship with participating countries
- To expand the support for Korean foreign policy from other countries around the world
Course Characteristics
- Lecture on diplomacy, politics, economy and society of Korea
- Seeking to actual cooperation plans between Korea and the participating countries
- Writing action plans for development of participating countries
- To build networks and expand exchanges with Korean diplomats
East Asian Diplomacy Program(EADP)
Overview
- Target: foreign diplomats and foreign public officers engaging in international affairs
- Duration: 3 weeks/ 10weeks
- Attendance: Around 60
- Schedule: 3.2-3.20/ 10.5-12.11, 2020
Objective of Education
- Creating East Asian Specialists’ groups and networks in the fast-paced global diplomatic architecture, through in-depth knowledge and sharing expertise experiences on Korea and East Asian focused diplomatic issues
- Promoting Korea’s international presence in the world community in leading and analyzing diplomatic and global issues by utilizing the Korea National Diplomatic Academy’s accumulated teaching and research capacity in the field of diplomacy and security
- Actively initiating ‘advocacy-based’ public diplomacy, which focuses on promoting national policy, values, and identity over the tradition approach of ‘projection-based’ public diplomacy of national branding and image
Course Characteristics
- Lectures on Korean diplomacy, peace and security in East Asia, common prosperity in East Asia, and global issues in East Asia
- KNDA professors provide one-on-one supervision to the program participants, including production of a short policy-oriented paper
